Classical Figure Sculpture Class

Archangel Sophia

Working from a live model in a long pose, learn to manipulate the spatial relationships between artist, model, and sculpture to achieve correct perspective. You will be amazed at how quickly you achieve results using this time-tested method for learning to see and rendering your vision in 3 dimensions.

About the Class

Attention to anatomy and clay modeling techniques will be the focus of this class. Working in 3 hour sessions over a period of 8 to 10 weeks students will use the planes and profiles of the figure to create a sculpture in oil-based clay. Ample instruction and demonstrations will help students to progress through study of the portrait, the torso, and the third life-size and half life-size figure. Armature building is an optional part of the program although students may choose to buy them on the internet. Students pay for their own clay and armature.
